Happy parents and players
Over the past few years Dwayne has not only coached our son but inspired him to push himself at whatever he chooses to do. Dwayne’s on and off the ice training certainly benefited our son both physically and mentally. Our son has continued to do well, by earning a spot on the East Kootenay Ice Bantam AA team in his first year of Bantam. Thanks for all the support on and off the ice. Let me also add the extra dryland training Dwayne provided both my kids, our daughter gained the strength and confidence she needed to achieve her goals in competitive Volleyball.
My 10 year old spent 7 months doing skills with Dwayne. In those months I have seen incredible growth in my son. Dwayne pushed him out of his comfort zone. He had my defenceman pinching, rushing the puck and creating more plays when normally my son would have hovered the blue line. Dwayne gave him the opportunity to ask questions and draw plays to expand his hockey sense. Dwayne sets the tone and expectations of all the kids he teaches and I’ve seen every kid rise to the occasion and become a strong hockey player with an even stronger love for the game. Dwayne’s motto of “do the work” isn’t just words – it’s action and the results speak for themselves.
Our daughter Chelsea attended Dwayne Hay’s camp over Christmas vacation. Chelsea’s puck handling improved and her compete level increased in games following the camp. Dwayne runs a highly effective program. My daughter’s confidence on the ice and over all point production has increased significantly!! It wasn’t even a question for us when we signed our daughter up for all future training that Dwayne offered.
I hired Dwayne Hay for two years. He ran weekly group morning skates as well as privates for my son. Dwayne has a knack for finding a healthy equilibrium between pushing young athletes and relating to them as kids. Dwayne is extremely punctual, accountable and quite frankly one of the best skills coaches around. I highly recommend hiring Dwayne for on-ice, Dryland or any combination thereof.
My family has known Dwayne for just over two years now. The hockey development that he has taught our son along with some life lessons will be remembered for years to come. It’s crazy how he will push your child on or off the ice in a way that makes them APPRECIATE and RESPECT him along with creating a great friendship.
During the 2017-2018 hockey season my son (Grayden) was coached by Dwayne Hay. This turned out to be the most productive year Grayden has ever had on the ice in means of developing his skill and fitness levels. Dwayne’s commitment to developing kids is second to none. Dwayne’s practices are full of skill development and he uses every minute on the ice to its fullest.
Our daughters are continuously exposed to professional skills coaches and Dwayne is consistently able to hold the athletes accountable for their development with effort, attention to detail and add a great deal of knowledge. Dwayne’s methods were a positive confirmation of our current training direction and we look forward to working with him in the future.
Dwayne has been working with our son Callum for over five months doing private skills training 1-2 times a week. Callum’s improvement and level of development through working with Dwayne have been exponential. It is so rewarding to see our son so motivated to attend every session. Dwayne has been so professional in his approach with both Callum and to us as parents, with his team, and has been punctual and organized for every session. Callum has now been asked to join a Selects team in Chicago and Pittsburgh and this would have never been possible without the professional skills training by Dwayne Hay. We are so grateful he came into our lives to mentor our special boy!
Both of our sons have been so fortunate to have Dwayne Hay as a head coach, on ice skills development coach, and off ice skills/conditioning coach over the last four seasons. Dwayne demands respect and hard work, but is respectful and rewarding in return. Dwayne has a way of connecting with players and teaching the game, that is very hard to find. The boys skill and confidence in the game showed a dramatic improvement under Dwaynes leadership. Both boys couldn’t wait to go to his practices, they said Dwayne pushed them to the next level, and they had fun. The players look up to him, and he makes them proud of themselves for their accomplishments! Dwayne is an amazing hockey coach, his love for the game is contagious, you will not go wrong having him coach your players.
We were introduced to Dwayne Hay during the 2019/2020 hockey season and can sincerely share that Dwayne’s on-ice coaching and skill development are outstanding. Whether working with the team or in private training sessions, Dwayne’s professionalism, preparedness and passion for the game were never in question. When Dwayne steps on the ice he has the complete attention of the kids because knows what he’s talking about. Yes, he talks the talk but, more importantly, he also walks the walk. Dwayne demonstrates and expects a complete commitment to self-improvement. To a 9-year-old kid, he might as well be wearing a cape out there. Thank-you, Dwayne, for your work with Max this season and for all your feedback, he is a better hockey player for it!
Our 10 year old son recently had the opportunity to work with Dwayne as his skills coach. They worked together weekly at 6:30am so this meant a 5:30 am rise. Normally my son would be difficult to get out of bed at that time in the morning but he loved his sessions with Dwayne so much that there was no struggle at all to get him up and ready. The sessions were fun and fast paced, always challenging but also with attainable goals so that my son felt he was continually improving.
Dwayne coached both of my boys this past spring. He only worked with them a short time but they have learned and gained so much through his instruction. His passion for helping kids improve in their skill development is second to none. Dwayne uses his knowledge of drills to help players improve edges, stick handling, crossovers and game situations that are fundamental to being a successful hockey player.
My son had the opportunity to work with Coach Hay this past season and the impact left by Dwayne was immense. Dwayne’s passion for the sport is best represented in how he continuously mentors and pushes each of his players to reach their goals, both on and off the ice. His practices and dryland training were challenging and innovative. The game play feedback Dwayne had provided to my son was always positive and encouraging. I saw the biggest improvement in my son’s overall skill development after one season with Coach Hay.
Our son Hank has been training with Dwayne for the past season. We have never seen training like this before. Hank’s development has been incredible in such a short period of time. This accelerated growth of both skills and hockey sense would have never been possible without the training, positive energy, work ethic, style of intense drills and dedication Dwayne has instilled into our son. We will continue to train with Dwayne any chance we get in years to come.
Dwayne Hay's Experience
Over the last 10 years, Dwayne has put in over 10,000 hours developing/mentoring players from age 6 to NHL players actively playing on and off the ice.
